R.K.Nagar By-Poll Election Polling has Started

The much awaited Radha Krishnan Nagar (R.K.Nagar) election polling has started today (December 21). This constituency as very much in news for almost one year after the death of J.Jayalalitha. R.K.Nagar was former Chief minister J.Jayalalitha’s constituency from where she contested and won to become the chief minister for Tamilnadu. After her death on December 05, 2016, Tamilnadu Election Commission has announced for by-election to be carried out within six months from then. However, last time the election was cancelled at the last moment by the Election Commission for allegations of too much of money given to voters by political parties and contestants.

Having announced the election date the second time in the same year, R.K.Nagar constituency streets were with full of promises and assurances from major political parities. Adding spice to the scenario, T.T.V. Dinakaran (Assistant General Secretary of AIADMK) is contesting in this by-election as an individual candidate as the party dispute within AIADMK is still on.

Bi-Election Results

Earlier, Election Commission has withdrawn the “Twin-Leaves” symbol of AIADMK party following the disputes arised within the party. However, after many twists and turns in the legal procedures the electoral symbol of J.Jayalalitha (& MGR before) was given back to the “OPS-EPS” team.

With all these ongoing political dramas, Tamilnadu politics is hot throughout the week. Finally, the election campaigning for the R.K.Nagar by-poll was over on December 19 for the polling to begin today (December 21). The results are to be announced on December 24th. In this election “Money was the King” which played a vital role during campaigning days. Allegations, refusals, complaints and cases were usual scenario during campaigning days of R.K.Nagar by-election.

People of Tamilnadu are eagerly waiting for the results for the TN political parties to resume their show. R.K.Nagar election is considered to be most important by the state parties as both the Dravidian party leaders, J.Jayalalitha (deceased) and DMK party leader M. Karunanidhi (inactive in politics due to health conditions) are not present in the forefront. All the television news channels are covering up live updates of the R.K.Nagar situation.
